Great composition, you balanced the flowers out very well with the turret. Well done!

This is a pretty cool photo, Eileen. I like the composition and the uniqueness of it. I bet this probably looks great fullsize, the 640 pixel size is not doing the detail in this any favours. You might want to go 800 since you can do that in your portfolio.

Hello, just jumping in on the Doc's bandwagon here.

I like the composition, it's dynamic enough with the syrup leading to the scoop. Maybe you could of included more of the ice cream to balance the photo better. The biggest negative of this photo to me is the sparkles on the plate and the haphazard inclusion of its rim. They are both distractions from the subject.

Hello, just jumping in on the Doc's bandwagon here.

First to address your question about sharpness(if you include your aperture & shutter speed that would be more helpful). Seeing that your lens is an f2.8 that could be part of the problem. If you were shooting at that aperture any slight movement forward or backwards could throw you slightly out of focus because of the thin depth of focus. Just taking a breath is enough to do that. Another possibilities could include possible movement while the shutter was open. Tripod would definately help with most possibilities.

With a flat-on view the positioning becomes much more important. A square crop might of helped if you wanted a centered composition, or with the rectangular crop a rule of thirds composition might of been of been a little more dynamic.
