COMPOSITION- CONTENT
The content of the picture is great, this could really be a good picture for a fishing magazine. Eyes are definitely drawn to the fish and the light on the fish helps it stand out in the picture. The rule of thirds has been applied here and this adds to the shot. After the fish, the eyes are drawn to the river bank, and although overall the composition is nice, I think that the river bank isnt needed here. I agree with some of the comments here, a closer crop would have helped the composition, making the fish larger in the frame and excluding some of the extra detail. I think that the idea of making this a vertical crop is a good one, cut off the left of the picture, including the grass, a little bit off the right for balance and then concentrate on the fish, the falling water and then also the bank would add to the framing.

BACKGROUND

I think a lot that I have said in the composition applies here. Although beautiful the background overpowers the point of the picture, being the fish. Decrease the size of the background and the fish will "jump out" even more! LOL.

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL
The fast shutter speed here is great, it captures the fish cleanly and in focus, great work! The lighting on the fish and water is lovely, also the background lighting is clear. I would imagine that the water here is pretty dark, hence the "dark" comments. However if you had increased contrast, I think that the water would have got blown out.

DIGITAL PROCESSING-TECHNICAL
I think that you could play around with the contrast a little here, as some people have suggested, try cutting out the background and adding a bit more light. Though, to be honest Ifeel that the lighting is very good here, the water has got a nice clean glow to it.

MY OPINION
This is a great capture and a vey beautiful setting, I think some more cropping would enhance this shot a lot. Perfect timing! I hope that this critique helps!

What a stunning shot, beautiful colour and reflections. Think it would have done very well in the Blue challenge, but a little weak on the photojournalism theme. Really is a gorgeous picture though. Natasha

I love the effect of the foggy snow here, really looks magical. I would like the background to be a little darker to get rid of the distracting pole.

I find the angle@of this shot a bit strange, took me a while to realise that it was looking down. I think I would prefer a different angle.

COMPOSITION-CONTENT
I loved the simple composition and content of this, the picture has instant impact. There is no clear focal point of the picture, but the eyes are drawn to the horizon and its lovely that there are no man made objects in the whole picture. I think cropping off the bottom couple of cms might hav been good, to get rid of the darker clouds at the bottom and would bring the more interesting clouds closer to the viewer. Colour is beautiful, the simplicity of the colours and softness of them are beautiful.

BACKGROUND
DOF is great here, and the horizon is nicely in focus. Basically the background is the photo here and the background is gorgeous!

DIGITAL PROCESSING-TECHNICAL
No problems here, could have been possible to add a bit more contrast to bring out the blues of the sky a little more, would have also have to decrease the light though to stop the whites from being blown out. However, I think it is great as it is!

CAMERA WORK-TECHNICAL
The whites in the picture are lovely and clean, they probably couldnt take much more contrast as they would get blown out.

MY OPINION
I really liked this picture, it has the WOW factor! Lovely crisp, clean colours and the simplicity of it is great. Think it would have benefitted from having the bottom darker clouds cropped, to lead the eye more smoothly into the distance. It doesnt relate strongly to the photojournalism theme and so probably lost a few points because of that and not because of the picture itself, I think people were expecting shots with more human impact in them! However, its a great picture and Good Luck with the Blue challenge! Hope that this helps!
