Lots of potential but the straight on lighting hurts it. You could probably improve things in post with it but ideally it would have been better had your light source been further to the left so that the light would sweep from left to right and rake over your subject rather than hit it from straight on. You would probably need to have a fill light in front and to the right to compensate for the lost light but I think that setup would add more impact and make the textures pop.

I like how you composed the subject. The only thing holding this back in my opinion is the background. I might have sought to find more tree coverage so that it was more uniform back there.
