Pure Countryby QartComment: I wish it didn't look so darn staged but other than that it's very well done and meets the challenge beautifully. |

Pure and Vibrantby challengedpComment: Let me start out by saying this is all just my opinion and while it might seem a little harsh I am only offering it to explain my vote which is a 5 in case you are interested.
First off, it's a good picture of a peacock however you've added nothing new here. This is by far the most common way to show a peacock, which is fine but then you run into being compared to all the others who have done the same exact thing and unfortunately this doesn't measure up to those. For me the lighting is really flat especially around the neck and the face looks a little blown out but it's hard to tell at this size. Regardless, the tonal range doesn't look good on the bird. Now the feathers are nice and how they stretch across the frame but as mentioned earlier this is so very common that I can't give you creativity points for it.
As for the title, I get the vibrant part but I don't really see "pure" here. However that could just be me so I would consider it meeting the challenge but no extra points for impressing me with the concept.
So that all said it comes to a 5. Despite everything I said it's still a very competent photo and it does have fairly good technique. More than anything it's just missing your personal stamp on it. Something that makes this shot yours and nobody elses. When you have that it will stand out in the challenge and beyond it. |

Streets Flowing With Goldby WildcardComment: I like this much better than the one you posted in the reaction thread. Even though the DOF looks the same the focus is more on the flow of the liquid as oppose to a random spot with the bubbles the other one had, IMO. Also this one has a really nice richness to it that is very appealing. Message edited by author 2007-06-15 20:11:38. |

Just Mad About Saffronby WildcardComment: The most interesting parts for me are the areas that your composition has minimized (i.e. bottom left and top right corners). I'm not sure why you chose the DOF you did but like the composition seems to minimizes the areas that carry far more interest at least to me. I like abstracts that don't try to be a photograph of something or a straight up close up shot and that's what seems to be going on here, IMO. Message edited by author 2007-06-14 21:08:54. |

Two Refracted Worlds by adineComment: One of those rare occassions when the background reflection enhances the shot rather than distract it. Congrats on the yellow. |
