Delicate Sunriseby jayrodComment: Must punish Brent, cuz his score is higher...aw geez, can't do it. Good photo. The earth tones are excellent, although as a total personal preference, I never like the azure tone of blue sky. I like it really really deep blue. 8 (you might want to remove your B&W version of this from your profile while this is going on....) |

Nearest Relativeby Mr_PantsComment: Excellent picture, as I look at it though, the halo effect is a minus, not a plus. Have to knock one point for that. Still a 7. |

Flag Artby woodseyComment: Well, you picked a high scoring shot to emulate...This is pretty well done, although the composition of setzler's pic is superior in the more limited DOF. 7 |

What the .ish ?by lowonenergyComment: I actually like it. I didn't vote Odd, but I would have given it a 6 or 7. Abstracts are tough on DPC and it seems like the only abstracts which survive are the ones which rely on a sharply focused pattern to gain its "abstractness" rather than using blur or DOF to become abstract.
The dots which are either dirt or water on the bowl are a megadistraction. I certainly would have knocked you for that. They look like saturation artifact and as soon as I saw them, I would have either backed off on the saturation or reshot the pic.
The colors are very pleasing and the fish is defined yet still abstract. The final knock is the title. Some people consider the title in their score and I think it's a little off. You ponder the title longer than the picture, and thus it is also a distraction. |
