splitsby margiemuComment: You know, I went to Redmond High. Anyway, about your picture. She's a cute subject and she certainly is meeting the challenge. Selective desat on this site CAN sometimes get some negative points. I actually like selective desat so I'm not the best at judging when it is over the line. The biggest problem with the picture is the background. I have yet to find a way to make fir trees look nice on a picture. I just haven't figured out how to keep them from turning into a muddy green mess. The sky is also blown out (or you have that NW overcast) which isn't pretty either. Finally, if your daughter would cooperate, I would keep her from looking straight at the camera. It lends a slight "snapshot" feel to the picture. That's just a small nitpick though. |

You want ME???..."TO DO WHAT!!!"by rileyComment: You know, I saw this one in the thumbs and I thought it was quite cute. You have some good things going for it; the lighting (not shot at midday) and the subject. I may have cropped more of the dog into the pictures he is the real subject (even though the human is the one jumping). Perhaps it would improve things if the grass was entirely sunny instead of having the top band of shade. I also think it is a tiny bit OOF. The 20D may have chose to focus on a patch of grass just behind. at 1/640 you shouldn't have camera shake and that should be plenty to freeze the motion. 6.3 is close to the middle for that lens and so shouldn't be causing trouble either. My guess is the focus plane is slightly in front of the subjects. |

dreaming of youby RikkiComment: This should be Top 10 if not Top 5! It will be a shame if it doesn't. |

Inferno by kiwinessComment: Among the over-the-top PP shots, this is one of my favorites. Clearly altered, but still keeps a hint of naturalness. 9 |
