handleby bvyComment: I was going to say something about your perverse imagination but that would only expose (pardon the pun) mine. So I won't be leaving a comment (did I just say that out loud?) |

Day 10: Leaf and Dropletsby Art RoflmaoComment: Hehe, if asked to pick which DPCer took this I think Art may have been in the bottom 5%. That's only because it is such a good photo. |

Catch Her in the Ryeby IrvineJamesComment: Your shoehorn title made me smile. The image is very beautiful and I would have scored this higher in a free study 5.
But wait! Before I actually hit the score button I decided to google your title just in case I was wrong in assume it was a play on the well known classic ‘Catcher in the Rye’ and their in Goodreads is your quoted book by Wodke Hawkinson and Dmitry Raykin. So it is not, IMO, a complete DNMC but only a slight shoe horn (what is considered a classic can be subjective but this book may be a bit of a stretch). 7. |

Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann by MargaretNetComment: Spectacular image! The details are wonderful and it̢۪s impressive how non of the whites I can see are blown despite the details available in the shadows. 8. |

The House of the Seven Gablesby vawendyComment: Lovely composition and beautiful details. There is something that bothers me though. When I look around the table I see a light that is coming from left that is then contradicted by the way her face is lit. With no shadows from the fire or the light that supposed be coming from behind her makes it feel too unnatural. Also, the light doesn̢۪t seem to be as natural as the rest (perhaps achieved by dodging?). I can appreciate the difficulties and complexity of lighting a setup like this and I would have no real idea on how to achieve it. It̢۪s just that with so much effort that has been taken to produce this it should all feel natural. 7. |
