| 12/28/2005 06:38:23 AM | Christmas Spiritby EricMGB1974Comment: 7 - Very nice. Good detail and also good use of the 'shallow DOF'. Criticism; difficult as not sure what this is, but perhaps a little 'straightening' of 'whatever it is', not sure, difficult to tell and doesn't really matter as this is more of an abstract. The colors are nice, but the detail in the glitter/etc is what I like most in this shot. Up to 7 from 6. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/28/2005 06:37:38 AM | Raindrops are fallingby ladpupmoeComment: 7 - No, this has to be an illusion. Good 'capture' either way. Criticism; maybe a fraction tighter crop at the top, still incorporating the balancing 'darkness', but just a little less, and, who knows how, but a fraction sharper on those 'drops', likely make this even better in my opinion. Back to see 'how/what', post challenge. Up to 7 from 6. edit:typo Message edited by author 2005-12-28 19:57:35. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/28/2005 06:35:08 AM | Dauntless in Decemberby elsapoComment: 9 - Very nice capture. Seems nice and sharp, especially against the background, which is also a good 'shallow DOF'. Criticism; not much, perhaps a nudge rotation up on the right to enable a tighter crop on the left to eliminate that 'branch/twig/whatever' top right. Difficult, but trying to 'enhance' the bird to make it 'pop' even more, (no idea how), make this even better in my opinion. Nice colors and simplicity. Up to 9 from 8. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/28/2005 06:33:37 AM | hopeby ursulaComment: 7 - Nice, nice colors and 'feel'. Criticism; difficult, but maybe some more 'space' on the left, not sure. Detail is fairly good in the seedhead/pod, but would like to have seen a little more, if possible (difficult likely), perhaps a tighter cropping (quality dependent) not sure. Looks like this would be hard to adjust the contrast on, but the patterns and dark coloring are nice but again, just like to see more detail, especially in the 'fibres' and texture. | 12/28/2005 06:32:27 AM | Another broken buttonby vikasComment: 6 - Unusual. Very good DOF and fairly good sharpness on the needle/thread. Criticism; as unusual as the eyes are used in this way, in my opinion, the 'effect' of them, dominates too much, if that makes sense, especially in this 'context'/composition/'subject'. Difficult to explain - just a little 'weird' with the eyes, no 'offence' intended either, just honest. Perhaps, if using the 'threading a needle' theme, just a slightly more 'side on' angle, may have been better but not sure, as obviously this captures the 'focus' (no pun intended) of trying to thread a needle so not sure. Maybe if they were 'squinting' a little, who knows. Good capture, just unusual. If original, well done. If the focus were as sharp on the thread going into the needle as it appears to be on the pads/skin of the fingers, also make this even better in my opinion. Up to 6 from 5, mainly for the 'unique factor'. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/26/2005 08:02:54 PM | silverleafby Faye PekasComment: 8 - Very nice. Simplicity. Looks like a Eucalypt. Good texture and color capture. Criticism; whilst the frame 'works', and the color is quite complementary, I think I'd have rather seen this 'bigger/wider', at the 'cost' of the frame. Perhaps even more height just for added impact, especially 'here', not sure. Very nice, and good depth of field. Perhaps a fraction more detail/focal area in the uppermost leaves, may have made this even better. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/26/2005 08:00:18 PM | Sailingduckby bryanbrazilComment: 9 - Excellent capture. Good fit for username. Criticism; not much, maybe 640 height too, but you might lose the 'sailing/horizontal' effect, so not sure. Nice colors, especially the whites/grays/silvers. To really nit-pick, perhaps a fraction more detail in the wings/feathers/texture, but difficult, and obviously an opportune capture. Like the water drop(s) capture. I am sure this size doesn't do the quality in this justice. Up to 9 from 8. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/26/2005 07:55:05 PM | dragonflyby owenComment: 8 - Very good macro. Criticism; difficult, to really nit-pick, the glare on the eyes (almost unavoidable), the slight 'blowing' of the grass/leaf it is on and the focus/detail 'fading' down the 'body'. Opportunity capture, natural lighting, etc, make it very difficult likely to adjust/modify any of these 'issues'. A tweaking of the colors perhaps, to try to get the red/green contrasting/vivid more, who knows. Good fit for username. Good capture. Like the composition and 640x640. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/26/2005 07:31:50 PM | hopperby JayWalkComment: 7 - One of the best 'username captures' in my opinion. Good catch/capture. No idea if the 'blur' is motion blur or 'pp'. Criticism; definitely wish this were 640. If this is 'real' and opportune, then difficult to suggest, but, a slightly different composition or crop, not sure, just to try to get 'the hopper' more dominant, instead of the leaves, would have likely made this even better in my opinion. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 12/26/2005 07:29:04 PM | T E C H N O S H R O O Mby DrAchooComment: 7 - Good concept. Criticism; the main 'shroom' looks a little more weathered than the others, but likely just due to 'handling'/technomanipulation. Perhaps a slightly different arrangement/composition may have given this more depth, especially with the main 'shroom' at the fore more. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
