...Straight To The Moon Alice!by yakatmeComment: Being new to challenges, I didn't pay attention to the fact that this challenge was a basic editing challenge. I just went to work, habitually post processing without thought to the differences in rules. I even listed dodging and burning in the Photographer's Comments when I submitted this entry (duh?).
I apologize to everybody for disrupting (however slight it was) the challenge. I have certainly learned my lesson and will carefully consider the criteria for future submissions. |

Take Me To Your Leader.....by espy2Comment: After reading a thread recently that the Energizer Bunny would be proud of, I specifically looked for your entry. Afterall, you called for attention. I see what most commenters are referring to and I quote my reply, the last remark made by a non-site council member in the thread that you referred to: "It looks to me that you got special treatment here. Everybody wants detailed, constructive criticism, and Konador seems to have gone out of his way to amend his comments to give it to you. I certainly would appreciate this kind of attention, I'm just not nearly about to go to the lengths that some people do to get it."

Dapper Duoby yakatmeComment: Thanks for all the encouraging comments during this challenge, I really got my hopes up. I tried to meet the challenge description and thought I did so. None of these comments said otherwise and the DOF was totally done prior to post processing. So now that it's over I feel totally let down and I would greatly appreciate constructive criticism. What is wrong with this photo for this challenge and/or what would have made it better for this challenge?
I also started a thread on this in hopes of receiving some constructive ctiricism:

Green & Goldby BrianRComment: With your careful use of DOF you managed to keep the crowd in focus. It appears that you were also able to make your subject stand out using selective desaturation. Too bad that wasn't in the challenge details. |

There Are Angels Everywhereby ColeyComment: Amazing coincidence that you were able to get a CANDID shot of someone wearing angel wings that look just like the wings in the blue ribbon winner titled "Angel Flew Too Close To The Ground" in the Oops! II challenge. |

He Singled Himself Outby seebrownComment: He sure did single himself out, so maybe he should be scored instead of the photographer. But then again, he also singled himself by not being in a crowd instead of following the details of the challenge either: "Use minimal depth-of-field to your advantage to help isolate your subject".
My comments are the culmination of seeing so many photos in which the photographer seemed to cave in to the difficulties of meeting the details associated with the challenge. I finally caved in and commented while viewing your entry, but the gist of my comments could be applied to the majority of entries.
One thing that you definitely achieved was creativity. Outside of the challenge details, I like this shot. I know it is difficult to achieve, but I would like to see less light in the background and more light on the cowboy's face. |

Pink sonata by crayonComment: I believe that the flower is that of 'Desert Rose', botanical name: Adenium obesum (I grow it in my nursery). Whatever the type of flower, this picture is beautiful! |

Happy Pillsby phatphotoComment: I like this photo a lot, however, the lid appears overexposed and blends into the background. This is difficult to correct, however, without adversely affecting the rest of the image. Maybe it would have been better to leave it out and avoid the problem altogether. |

Shapesby eyeronikComment: I can see a path, but as for shape, there is too much out of focus for the eye to land on a shape. |
