This is a great example of perfectly meeting the challenge - no question. I like the story too. The monochromatic subject is awesome and i wish I thought of something that good. I agree that a slightly different crop might have helped as well as possibly removing some of the extraneous color in the shadow area. I didn't vote but I would have gone 7 or 8 for sure.

Great contrast here- the fact that the holes are sooo dark here (bu tI can still see inside them) helps in contrast with the ripply reflectiony water.
