The bird formation is wonderful along with thte shoadow of the tree. I could see this being top 10 - the border to me is grabbing too much attention and unnecessary.

This is an amazing image and a great idea. The details and wings are simply fantastic the way the background shows through. It probably would have scored even higher without the patriotic feel, imo.

I certainly can't see any way for this NOT to make the front page. When I drove home from work I hoped to see some crazy scene - this is cooler than anything I had imagined. I like the selective desat - The only crit I'd give would be the lines outliningh the border sorta tweak in the CW direction - maybe a slight distortion correction would help. Still worthy of a 9.
