Leaping Into Action!by loriprophotoComment: Nice baby action!! They can move faster than the big ones so it's harder to catch them at the height of it! Nice job. |

dressage3.jpgby LKMoteComment: This is nice, I want just a teen bit more of the sleeve cuff and saddle and a little less in front of his head. Could live without the rider in the background, the shallower DOF helps that some.
Horse is relaxed ("v" shaped ears show you this, especially if they flop a little) I love shooting the braided side, especially when the braids are this neat. |

dressage1.jpgby LKMoteComment: Nice framing for a head shot I'm glad you included the shoulder could use a wee bit more at the top. I like that you caught an ear in each direction, looking where's he's going but listening to his guide. Seems a touch tense tho'. YOu could use layers to darken the background to give it a bit more saturation. Would improve if you didn't have the shadow on part of the face. |

dressage6.jpgby LKMoteComment: This makes a very nice story! Love the framing by the barn and the sillouette of all the stuff in teh doorway. Nice background for a horse venue!!
Edit: nicely exposed, might clean up the poo! Message edited by author 2006-04-08 22:06:13. |

dressage4.jpgby LKMoteComment: Timing: close to ideal, just a fraction sooner before the weight of the horse transfers to the forehand is better. Balanced evenly of for & hind legs is ideal or on one or both hind legs to give the appearance of lightness. While I prefer not to obscure the legs with the rail when possible I do like it when you include a letter since it adds to the story. Nice that the caller is in the backgroun too, could live without the shed looking thing of course. Backgroun is not ideal fur for a horse venue not that bad either. Horse is hollow in the back which defies "true" collection. Looks kinda squished into "frame". Hind leg is trailing a bit. |

dressage2.jpgby LKMoteComment: Timing, very good, just a fraction sooner is ideal, just before the leading foreleg is perfectly straight.
Better if you waited until it was in the arena so the rail would be on the other side of the horse.
Background, not the worst I've seen but could be much better. Try using a smaller DOF (f4) to help blur the background. Exposure, perfect! The horse itself (not under your control) hollow in the back, slightly heavy on the forehand. While in the popular idea of frame and looks pretty good in motion it's not true collection. (pics don't lie!!)
