"this photo has been validated" ?...that's just the icing on the cake! How refreshing this actually is after looking at soooo many rather death-centric images...go into the light...go into the light!

I'm going to use the word yet again for one of your images Wil...velvety...so, so velvety....deep...sooty...vintage...completely divine...this image begs for close contemplation...this I would love to see as a largish size print...as with many of your images...atleast 20" by 24" for this one in particular...I can actually visualize a room/setting I'd love to see this in...{{{I'm so strange...sigh}}}

Hi Masha... and greetings from the Critique Club!

My name is Rachel : }

Since you have not left photographer's notes, I am just going to go with what comes to me...so here goes...

The light is quite lovely in this image, particularly how it illuminates the arch "underside", the textures are also quite nice...the roughness of the old brick contrasted against the smoothness of the vegetation. The leaves near the bottom do seem slightly overexposed, but this can be fixed with a bit of burning if you have Photoshop or a similar program.

What I might have thought about is how this image may have been cropped in a different way... I keep wanting to see a tighter crop...perhaps a tighter crop would have been a bit more effective...that little outdoor view we see at the end of the walkway located on the right hand side of the image a quite distracting...If you had presented just the "arch" and gardens just beyond, it would have forced the viewer to really look at those lovely textures, feel the warm sun, and perhaps smell whatever may be in bloom ...made it place we all wanted to be. I do see one of your comments refers to this feeling...keep pushing for that "feeling", that reaction...experiment, try different crops, try shooting the same scene from many different angles, different exposures...have fun and go little crazy....goodness knows I have at times! : }

I also think it would have been interesting to see this as a B & W image, but maybe that's because I adore B & W. I say this because B & W in a way forces us to see the light, the shadow, forms, texture and space...color can be distracting at times. That being said, I hope I have been of some help and if you have any more questions or thoughts you'd like to share, please feel free to PM me anytime...ok?

Take Care, Rachel

I had made a completely different comment, which I have decided to "erase"...this was a really difficult challenge...nearly impossible really...I was confusing "choice" with "decision" which actually have quite different meanings...I actually went to the dictionary and looked them up...after looking at all images in the challenge I realised this is hardly the only image with a "leading" title....anyway...this image stuck out simply because I love rods and kustoms and it's nice to see them pop up in challenges...thanks for sharing.
