Before E-mail, Word Processors and Typewriters...by tsheetsComment: I was considering doing such a shot, and presenting it as an old fahioned handwritten manuscpirt, which is how they did it even as recently as 1920.. Could't find the correct tools, though. The only thing I am not seeing is an ink well. If there is one, it is so dark that it doesn't complete the composition. If you used an oil or keresene lamp, there may have been better light. I'll give it a 7 . |

Swampy Tree Stumpby NodeComment: When I find out who did the image, I'll mail you my tree which I chose not to use. Anyway, yours is better than mine was. I like the ripple in the upper right. It offsets the dark tree stump nicely. |

Beigeby erictjComment: I guess beige is definitely oblsolete currently, but I'm sure it will come back with a vengeance. Thoght the shot was out of balance. Not enough of any one item to make a strong statement. Perhaps taking one element out of the image would have made it more refined. |

Then and Nowby APComment: Nice comparison shot. Lighting is decent, but needs some work. I am having the same problem trying to set my lights when doing studio shots. Can't give you any guidance, because I haven't mastered lighting either. |

Seriously Obsoleteby hblakeComment: Composing an image is nearly as important as shooting in focus. I think the composition needs work. Do many different set ups and take a lot of still lifes such as this one, to see which one really demands you use it compositionally. |

Temporary Tools of Artby msimagingComment: Someone said in one of the forums to say if you like a picture or not. I appreciate that the effort was put in, but I don't like the picture. It says very little to me. You were able to have no glare on the botton of the left can, so that shows you had correct light exposure. Depth of field is shallow enough to draw the eye to the cans, but I would prefer to see some of your other work. |

Red Corn Crackerby chimeraComment: Nice depiction of texture. I've never seen one of these before, so I am learning as I look at the pictures. |

Key in the Ignitionby cweedComment: Meets challenge quite well. Focus is good. Without knowing what you had to work with, I'm not sure if composition could have been stronger. |

Anasazi Mano Y Metate (Stone-Age Grinder)by rox_roxComment: I like the balance of black space around the stone image. It definitely depicts what appears to be a stone thrusting out of the past. Better focus would have really made this image pop. |

a symbol of the past down belowby focus57Comment: Way too out of focus. Maybe a spot reading would have helped to clear up the lack of clearness. I do like the optical illusion of this image appearing to be a giant with a lilliputian size landscape behind it. |
