Summertime...and the livin' is....by irishempressComment: This is a marvelous Americana photo. The black and white touch gives it a feeling of agelessness, like it could be now or 50 years ago. I like the touch of the old fashioned flag. |

State of Mindby garrywhite2Comment: This is such a cute image. I loved it. I just cracked up when it came up on my monitor. I'm not sure if it really depicts independence, but I'm giving it a 10 anyway. Thanks for the bit of whimsy. |

Rims of time....by ankit0621Comment: Great shot. I like the use of black and white. Gives it a real dated look. Contrast is okay. If you don't have a tripod, use one for images like this that are stationary. It makes a big difference in sharpness. Also, my camera has a setting for high contrast. If yours does too, see how using it will work when shooting b&w. What you see in color is not what you get in b&w. |

Great-Grandma's Kitchenby L1Comment: Nicely done. The only thing missing is some food being prepared. I give it a nine. (I see a crock over to the right. If you opened a jar of pickles and put then into it, it would have definitely added to the composition. |

Obsolete Stampsby stringofpearlsComment: I would have liked to see more color saturation. Most editing programs have a setting to change hue and saturation without going against the rules of the challenges. |

In the Midst of Cobwebsby melsterComment: Great image of showing vinyl differently from everyone else. I like the cobwebs though the image is somewhat overexposed in the highlights. I'll give it an 8 for creative framing. As to the overexposed area, just putting a darker cloth or paper over the forefront could have cut back on the glare. |

lest we forgetby matfitzComment: Sorry, but I can still get these films, and I still use them, as well as slide film. You should have stretched a little to come up with a better way to convey obsolete. |

Before E-mail, Word Processors and Typewriters...by tsheetsComment: I was considering doing such a shot, and presenting it as an old fahioned handwritten manuscpirt, which is how they did it even as recently as 1920.. Could't find the correct tools, though. The only thing I am not seeing is an ink well. If there is one, it is so dark that it doesn't complete the composition. If you used an oil or keresene lamp, there may have been better light. I'll give it a 7 . |
