Detail of sugar is really good. The use of black and white checks to mimic the b&w cup and bowl was very creative. The squares match the sugar cubes nicely. Felt it took away from the coffee, though. Still, I understood where you were going with it, but I think you might have enhanced the wrong subject with your composition.

There is red eye in this one, but I am sure you've been told that. It may have been a creative tool to create a really red look, but I think it would have been better if the red eye had been fixed. The red nose and thermometer and messy hair would have been adequate.

This is a great image. I think that this would make a better retirement card, though. I would get this one if it was a retirement card, but as a bon voyage, I don't think so. I will give you a 7 though for the picture itself.

The image is beautiful. I love the blue color. The background bothers me, though. Use of shallow depth of field was very good. Wouldn't have made it any clearer. I think a little backlighting on the thistle would have brought it away from the background better, to make it really stand out.
