Cathedrale de Lausanneby LevTComment: Weaker? I've been staring at both pictures for about ten minutes, and I guess you're right. I really liked the lines in the ceiling and the soaring feeling to that vaulted roof in the challenge picture. The challenge picture did sort of fizzle out at the end of the aisle (the altar?), in that there really wasn't much to see there except a shadowy figure.
To me, this picture is a lot more visually interesting, but you seem to be standing a lot closer to the door than you were to the altar, so we lose a lot of the feeling of depth that we got from the ceiling in the first picture. On the other hand, with that door frame pointing upwards, the pipe organ, and the stained glass window set into the ceiling vaults, you've given us a lot to look at, and the feeling I get is up, up, up which is what the builders intended in the first place. And that human figure which is so small, again by design of the builders, to remind us of our place in the scheme of things. |

Cathedrale de Lausanneby LevTComment: Love the clarity and colors -- the blues are awesome. The figure in the doorway is a nice touch -- puts things in perspective. |

Gnaraloo-Fuel-Shed_IMG_0008.jpgby nixterComment: Hmmm. I think this one is worth working on. Were you using a polarizing filter? There's some sort of a dark patch on the left that could be dodged a little so it isn't so obvious. I really go for the red soil, the clouds, and the dark sky with the light reflecting off of the barn... and of course, the rainbow. The b&w is super, too. I'd hate to have to say one is better than the other. 8) |

The conversationby TOYComment: The heavy line (something to do with the window) does't bother me, but I would bring in the right margin a little so the girl's profile isn't so far from the center of the picture. (Rule of Thirds raising its head again, I guess.) My eye is drawn first to that line and then to the girl and makes her sort of an afterthought. Beautiful b&w work, and I love the light on her profile. |

Danica stylishby TOYComment: Great bokeh. I'm with Arsenal on the light on her hair. Good use of b&w. (For the whole picture, not just the hair 8)) |

In Stepby elee3009Comment: I don't know what you are doing, but you are off to a good start. 8) Is there any way you can get rid of the red streaks on the woman's foot? |
