California Poppy, Berkeley, #2by bspurgeonComment: Wow! Your DOF is about as wide as a razor blade! Interesting effect. I wonder if you could have gotten a tad more contrast by fiddling with the red and yellow channels, but that's just me. A very intriguing shot. |

Twilightby bspurgeonComment: I really like the composition of this one with the joshua tree on the left coming into the frame on the diagonal. I'm with Melethia I really had to look for Venus. Too bad you couldn't arrange for a great big full mooon or setting sun. (Although through the magic of Photoshop....) ;P |

San Franciscoby LevTComment: Glorious b&w conversion. For me the whites are just fine. In fact, I really like how the white building "frames" the lower building.
Generally, I don't care that much for the heavy, black horizontal borders that are all the rage these days, but in this shot, I don't mind the border at the top, but the one at the bottom is very intrusive to me. I notice that when I scroll around on the screen and make the bottom border narrower, it doesn't bother me nearly as much. Can one have unequal borders?
At any rate, it's a beautifully clear, sharp, and interesting shot. |

"To see the world in a grain of sand..."by myceliumComment: Great shot. I have to admit that it took me a couple of looks to figure out that this wasn't a new take on a water drop!
Thanks for the notes on how you did this. I'm going to try it some time. |

Seasideby dafletchrComment: I love this too. The umbrellas are wonderful, and that galvinized iron sky is wonderfully eerie. Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. |

old knockerby LevTComment: Beautiful shot of a beautiful object. When I was a graduate student in Mexico City back in the 1960's, all of the doors in the old part of town had these. Brings back memories.... |

Finding Speedby dtremainComment: I just don't see much connection between the in-focus fence and the out-of-focus car in the background. |
