yup - that's ooze! Not sure how, photographically, you could capture the "primordial" bit. This image is triking, but maybe not enought to get over the "yuk" factor!, Like the composition and lighting.

nice detailed image. slight lack of sharpness, perhaps on tip of bud and in hairs on bud case. Very slightly flat - more contrast in lighting would have improved, I think. Image slightly lacking in innovation...

Great capture! wish there was fraction more on LHS (water is leaving frame) and could see more of your people (faces). Sky is a little uninteresting, and might benefit from more contrast and saturation in blue spectrum.

Very simple but effective! Maybe not quite even enough in halo terms, and central light very blown out - slightly more gradation might have been interesting. Nice image.

gorgeous pet portrait - hang on, wait - wrong challenge! Great baby animal pic. title does well to tie image to challenge. great DoF & colour. maybe lacks slight "x factor" needed to score very highly, but I like!

there are a couple of other cload shots in the challenge the b&w one does this better (I think) but yours is better than most of the others. Perhaps not quite dramatic enough here. Sky could grade faster to darker blue (increased contrast would help) and clouds do not seem to have a very white colour at thier whitest - a levels tweak would help that. Compositionally, a bit more cloud or a bit more sky (depending on which is more interesting) with possible adherence to the rule of thirds would improve the image, I think.

Great picture - nicely taken.

Only criticism is in choice of book version, as collected works means that we see a lot of pages on LHS: doesn't imply "beginning". Also, while I agree that prologue is the right place to emphasise, it comes halfway down page of text - again, slightly off the beginning topic.

Overall, though, very nice pic.
