I wonder whyby alexgarciaComment: I like the concept, but (even though valid) your thought bubble looks like clip art. |

STOP religionby msdoubletroubleComment: heh - I like the message! Photo could be a little sharper and I think that it may be a pixel or two off straight. |

S V Wahine Sailingby MelonMusketeerComment: I am jealous - lovely looking vessel. I am guessing that you were strapped to the bowsprit for this shot - it is a good shot of the boat in action, but I would like to see more of the top of the mast/sail, and perhaps something more dramatic with the sun. Nice pic overall though. |

Teaselby ArtanComment: Hi Ian
I like this shot. However, it looked slightly more impressive from the thumb than in full size: I think that at full size there are a couple of distracting details. I don't like the spiders web on the bottom left or the broken spines. I might try a touch more contrast. However, all said, I really like the pattern in the plant and you have framed it perfectly with the green and blue. |

The Waitingby CutterComment: The best of your series in terms of composition, IMO - but she's too orange, airbrushed, and the focus is off on one eye. Pretty girl. |

April3.jpgby Blind_squirrelComment: I would like to see the light catching her right eye a little more and the few strya hairs cloned out. A reflector (white card or paper at a pinch) on the other side of your model from the light would help balance the light on your model's face. |

Backup Transportationby glad2badadComment: I think that this is a great image. Great timing. Well caught.
By way of constructive criticism, it appears soft and grainy in the foreground shadows and the light is a little past its best (I know that you were not in control of all the elements - but the viewer is not to know that). The light in the background is a little flat - with a silhouette, that becomes a little more significant.
You may not appreciate the comment, but given that this was an expert challenge, you had the option of chopping the sky for something a little more dramatic taken a bit earlier or later.
The waves look a little oversharpened or perhaps the detail is lost in the size retriction. Something I am facing up to more and more so is the need to selectively sharpen different elements of the image to different degrees.
Cheers! M |
