Water Challenge - oskar's Water & Iceby ShutterPugComment: There aren't many waterfall shots that work well in B/W. This one does pretty well though. Something about the tonal range and/or contrast seems to make it lose a bit of detail in the extreme lighter & darker areas, but overall a very nice job. Great movement captured. Beyond retiredby ShutterPugComment: I think this has the makings of a really strong shot (I still scored it a 7 during the challenge), but seemed to be "missing" something to push it over the top. The focus could be a hair sharper, the colors could be pumped up a hair more through curves, maybe some burning/dodging to make it pop a little more... All the ingredients are there I think. Still - like I said - I like it and scored it well. Good job. |

My circle of friends..........a pyramid of Pugsby ShutterPugComment: I'm sure nothing you haven't already heard before about the technical aspects of this shot (focus, exposure, etc.) - BUT, the composition is really outstanding. Can't believe you got them all to pose long enough to get a shot off. Well done. |

Vertical H2Oby ShutterPugComment: I think this is terrific. Love the dark, moody tones of the shot combined with the severe razor-like teeth of the icicles. Creates a very dramatic effect. Great crop, focus, & DOF. Well done - should have scored higher. |

Camouflagedby ShutterPugComment: Great focus/DOF & color! Surprised this didn't do better actually - although this was a VERY tough field of competitors. Really beautiful capture - and you caught him looking right at you! Terrific detail. Well done. |

1956 - Office of a Mine Shaft Managerby ShutterPugComment: This was a great entry. Scored a 7 from me. Such nostalgia - you really captured "time" well here. Curious as to whether you found this in an old location or set this up for the challenge. Either way, it worked. Nice job. |

Meow?by ShutterPugComment: Love the pose & color tones. Great crop too. You got some terrific tiger shots (actually all the zoo shots from this trip are great). |
