This was a really quick and dirty color swap:
auto color
channel mixer - swap red and blue
curves - white pick on cloud

If you notice, you can see in the color version where the light leaked in.

But, I love the b&w conversion you did. the scene is beautiful and you composed very well for the subject. Very well taken...

If I had been scoring you on the 'thing' you created, I would have scored you pretty high - this is a really cool scene, particularly because of its parts. However, I was rating you on the photograph you took of the scene you created; a completely separate entity. If the parts were legos and it was shot exactly like this, your score would have been in the fours. The lighting is flat and uninteresting and removes all possible depth from the image. Additionally, you lose depth because there is no depth of field - everything is in focus - our eyes read that as flat because we expect some blurry parts. Kudos for your set up but your execution of the photo itself falls short.

At DPC, voters often vote on the subject rather than the image itself. I think you benefited from that. This guy does some miniature work. At any rate, cool work - it would be great to see it evolve. I scored this a 5 solely on photographic merit.

crap. All we get is rain. I don't like the border - it almost overpowers the image for me. But the rest of the image works really well - I love the softness of the trees in back.

woefully underrated. But then, my top 10 didn't break the top 10. this is beautiful - just not in a dpc friendly eyecandy bright and shiny kind of way. I would take that as a compliment.

I much prefer this one as there is a greater variety of tonal values - the other is very flat, with not enough in the brighter range. On the left, about the middle, my eye wanders over to the bright spot of leaves, and immediately jumps to the fence. I then get stuck there as it is the only rigid spot in the frame. Everywhere else is wonderful flow and curves; at this spot, I am captured and in jail. Then I start thinking about that, to the detriment of the rest of the image. If it were mine, I would darken that fence so it is less intrusive into an otherwise lovely natural scene.

Weak composition. Because there is scant detail in the statues, they just look like things in the way of my view of the building.

Image appears a little flat and unsharp. Well composed (I love animal close ups) but I think this was cropped a lot to get what you have which results in the lack of detail. 5

A pretty scene with good lighting, especially on the water. But overall, the image is a little static, I think as a result of the composition.
