Calm Before The Stormby CoozComment: I actually photographed one of these today. He got mad at me - it is a calm before the storm! I think the composition is great. The depth of field works well - the viewer can see the eyes of the tail without them being distracting. My only pick at this image is the lighting - its a little harsh on top of this head, blowing out the detail above his eyes. The plummage at the top is great as is the neck. Good capture - 7 from me. good luck in the challenge! |

Making An Entranceby 3DsArcherComment: I honestly don't care too much for this image but I think it is a direct result of the lighting. Outdoor shots are impossible to control in that respect - all you can do is wait around and see if it gets better. Sometimes though, you have to make due with what you've got. For an action shot its pretty good - your timing is excellent. Think maybe a slighter tighter crop would help, maybe eliminating the duck to the far left and the duck butt at the bottom. That kind of crop would put more emphasis on the splash rather than the empty space in the middle of the image. A decent attempt at a bird shot, a great stop action shot. Good luck in the challenge! |

goose. goose.by cheleComment: This could be a really interesting and humorous image if not for the over saturation. It makes the geese look plastic. The cropping may have included some more of the white goose but I know sometimes you take what you can get with wild animals! Good luck in the challenge! |

a not so rare, flightless, DolomedesTenebrosusby ralphComment: For a spider picture, its pretty cool. Maybe it has the bird 'tied up' inside? The image itself is pretty good, a little static for my taste but the colors, focus, and DOF are right there. Good luck in the challenge! |

Nestingby sbridgwaterComment: Honestly, this image is not in focus, even for a silhouette. There is potential here, but I think reshooting with a tripod or a higher ISO would greatly improve the image. Also, size is an issue - if you could recrop some of the bottom out and make it bigger I'm sure it would open up the image. Right now, with all the black and the funky frame it seems a little claustrophobic to me. Good luck in the challenge! |

Incognitoby kking9Comment: I am giving a 6 if only because you managed to get a cat to wear that rediculous costume! How cruel! Or is he pretending like wily e coyote? Colors work well but technically not a bird. Lighting a little harsh. Good luck in the challenge! |

Goslingby JPRComment: Beautiful image but slightly over processed for my tastes. Back off the blur just a hair and I would like it much better. Like the tones you used. Think the blur makes it overly soft so I can't judge on focus. Composition okay. I think you really have something to work with here but again, I am distracted by the blur. That is personal taste so take it for what its worth. 7 from me, good luck in the challenge! |

HUH ?by Jeff OComment: Love the pose. Excellent timing. The eyes look unnaturally saturated, maybe even unreal. Don't care for the background - seems like its seen through glass. But, that's my tastes. 8 - good luck in the challenge! |

Don't Make Me Fly Over Thereby Keith ManiacComment: I love this image. In this challenge it gets a 10. Challenge aside, and knowing this is one of those take or it lose it shots where you only have about a second to react, I can only say that next time, try to get him to pose better! ;) A little lighting from under his belly would have added to an already amazing image. I'm hoping that, while voting, people take into consideration the difficulty in getting this kind of image. Good luck in the challenge! |

Territorial Dispute!by sfaliceComment: excellent timing! The space in the right is empty - I would have cropped there to pull the image off center - its kind of wasted space. This would have given more room to the birds so we could see the detail. Shadowing/lighting pretty good. Birds are great to photograph because the make you work! I would have added a little saturation to the green - it would provide a little more eye catchiness (is that really a word?) Excellent stop motion. 7 - good luck in the challenge! |
