This image is well taken but it doesn't have the impact of "green on black". Maybe if there was variance in the shade of the trees on the bluff against the trees in the background. Like the balance of the water and the sky.

I rated this image high on technicals, low for meeting the challenge, and medium for appeal. Final score - 6. Why? Technically its sound. I like nature shots and macro shots so the appeal was there, but not over the top. As for meeting the challenge, it doesn't scream adulthood to me. Lifecycles maybe but adulthood is a stretch. I see beginning and end, but not middle. Sorry!

This is one of those images you come back to and like more each time. I hate to say, in original voting I gave this a 6. Today I would give it an 8 or 9. I get both a sense of futility and hope. And dedication. Oh so dedicated. The toning is excellent, composition well done.
