One of the most difficult things in food photography is to make the food look appetizing. I think you have accoplished that here. However, the composition is a little jarring and the lighting is harsh. A good start with a difficult subject. 6 - good luck in the challenge!

Mmm...Pie

While the pie does look good, I think this image suffers from poor presentation. The subject is centered and full frame with slightly odd lighting, leaving the image flat and static. Background may play a large part here - a more apetite inducing background, say red or yellow, even blue maybe, would induce a viewer to want to eat. Currently, both in texture and tone, the background competes with the pie. You've done a good job of capturing the food itself - not an easy task which is why I rarely try. But I think you need a little more: a glass of milk, a fork, a slightly wider viewpoint, to make this image really pop. 5 - good luck in the challenge!

Cheescake ....Yeah!

The thing about food pictures is that the food has to, 95% of the time, look good to eat. In this image, I think you failed that. The composition and depth of field are excellent, but the cheesecake itself is rather odd and unappetizing. I think the problem lies with the color balance or maybe the lighting. The technical aspects of this are good, I just can't imagine myself eating this particular peice of cheesecake. 5 - good luck in the challenge!
