Warm Glow of Simpler Timesby fotomann_foreverComment: This image works extremely well as a low key image. The highlights are perfectly exposed. The subject is interesting (to me at least). Composition works. You've allowed enough texture in to give depth. Well done. 9 |

Mountain home, after snowstormby hahn23Comment: really like the two light sources and differing warmths. Definitely adds depth to the image. I'm bothered by the tilt to the right. Its very slight but very pronounced due to the horizontal lines. The crop works for me. Might be more interesting with a person at the table. Technically well done. |

Surviveby anthonyczajaComment: For me, this image would have been much more powerful with the top 1/3 cropped out. The image doesn't need it and its a distraction. The border works. Very well rendered - I like the color tones. May bump later... |

Redby aronComment: I find the border distracting in this image, if only because it tries to hold me in. In this image, I'd rather believe there is unlimited space around the flower. The colors are well rendered. The composition conforms to the rule of thirds but there is still a static-ness to the image; for me this might be due to the abrupt cutting off of the bottom due to the border. As a low key entry, I think this image misses the challenge. The lighting is quite bright on the subject even if the background is black. Outside the challenge a well taken image for stock type photography. 5 |

Quiet waters of Rio Chicoby mayonesaComment: In low key shots, the object is to find the perfect point at which there is just enough light to hold the viewers interest. For me, this image just misses. The foreground is too bright, not allowing me past it into the background. If there had been just a little more light in the background, the image would have overcome this issue and my curiousity would have been piqued; I would have wanted to go deeper into the image. The colors are interesting - they do hild my attention. But they overpower the rest of the image and leave me thinking it would have been better to crop the top. 5 - good luck in the challenge! |

Swanlakeby marvinComment: Interesting. I really like the reflections. Better than your regular bird and pond shots. May have been cropped a bit tighter. 7 good luck in the challenge! |
