Typically, I look at an image that pops up and ask myself, "Why?" This is one of those few images that make me say, "Why not?" And the title even pushes it over the top. I love this and hope it does well. Good luck in the challenge!

There are many technical issues with this image - pixelation, sharpening artifacts, weirdly blurred spots. However, looking past all those editing issues, there is an extremely well composed, well lit image. I love the image itself and would really like to see a re-edited version.

the blue bar at the bottom is distracting. I really like the focus and the colors. This could be cropped slightly on the right for better balance (subject distance from edge) which would also make the moment more intimate for the viewer. Interesting capture.

I would bet that this isn't currently scoring very well. Its not within typical DPC tastes. For me at least, the image is intriguing but seems to be 'unfinished.' A guess here - you were working with high ISO as you were in deep shade. I'm guessing you were using a Canon but that is irrelevent. I think this image needs the bottom blur cropped out - as a viewer, it makes me take a stutter step when entering the image. this will also pull the main subject a little more off center and really force me to look at the detris of the forest floor whose colors and patterns I find fascinating. The focus is good, but slightly deeper would have been better. This would build a connection between the mushroom and the detris that is stronger than what is here. An interesting subject for the challenge that I could explore for a while. Unfortunately you won't find many voters willing to spend the time. Good Luck!
