Nice illusion, seems a bit grainy. It seems that a little more light may have solved more problems than it would have created.

Great shot! I love the colors and focus. I like the angle of the blocks as well. Nice take on the challenge. I know it is nitpicking but I wish the two red blocks and two blue that are side-by-side were separated.

I really like the colors and composisition here. It would really benefit by using more of the alloted 150kb file size though. That would sharpen it a lot. Probably could use a dose of Neat Image as well. It's really nice but could have been something really special IMHO.

Nice shot and your border really adds to it. This is a good argument for borders. Nice focus and lighting.

Initial thoughts
Nice composition, meets the challenge, nice feel to it.

Composition/ Content

I think this should have scored even better than it did. I like the composition, although it would have been better without the "sign" or whatever to the left. I think if you had cropped it out, you would have ruined your perspective. Perhaps you could have moved it before the shot. In actuality, because the flow of the shot moves from the top right through the trees it points right to this sign.

Background
Because this is a near monochromatic shot, I would like it even more if the trees in the distance were lightened enough not to show at all. They are very light now and it works but I like the lonely feel of the trees in the cold.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems good and you did a pretty good job in the tough contrasty area of a snow shot.

Digital Processing - Technical
I think I would have cropped up just a bit to just above where the tracks are in the snow. I may have moved the top a little bit higher above the tallest tree as well. I know some folks commented that they would like to see it brighter but I like this feel. It may look good as well in B & W but once again I think this color matches the shot nicely.

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a six and almost a seven. I think that it meets the challenge well but was up against some unbelievable competition this challenge. Sometimes a shot with less color may be just as good if not better than others but doesn't score quite as well here. Don't let that bother you! Really good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

Initial thoughts
Interesting composition, meets the challenge, brightness and focus seem a bit off

Composition/ Content

I like the composition and the panorama feel of the shot. It is certainly interesting with the change in orientation of the houses. It seems to match the title well.

Background
Although I like the panorama feel, a bit more of the background of the hill may have reinforced your title a bit.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems a little bit soft and if possible, it would have been nicer to get a little closer to the interesting houses.

Digital Processing - Technical
I noticed that your comments were mostly about soft focus. I don't know if this was straight from the camera but it certainly could use a little post processing. It is a little small and you only used 110kb of the 150kb allowed in file size. This in itself would have sharpened it up. It still needs a little sharpening and some contrast and saturation could have made this a really sharp shot.

Fits The Challenge
Definitely fits the challenge well.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a seven. That may have been a bit high but I liked the way it matched the title of your shot. I think if it was a bit bigger and a bit sharper and brighter you would have really scored well. Good job, and keep up the good work.

Nice eye here. The window really adds to the shot. It makes me wonder where this is that a sign could be so neglected. Good job!

We can only hope that Drew hasn't taken the same turn for the worse!! Nice job, I wish the sign was just a bit brighter even at the expense of the sky.
