Oh... this is nice. So soft and inviting... I can feel the texture of the petals... and the selective desat... BRILLIANT touch. Detail and composition - WOW!!!! Probable ribbon in a very strong field... if you don't ribbon, you've been robbed.

A posthumous (or similar) winner, without a doubt... and, I having a similar appreciation for things a little different, think this is one of the best images in the challenge... though, I'm at pains to say, I think the average voter just won't get this... I hope to God I'm wrong, and would LOVE to see this do well. It's sharp, yet soft... there's colour, but not too much... it's composed brilliantly, but not traditionally. It's a work of art. Really. Think I have to fav this after writing this comment.

This is a great image... I love the detail, and the feeling of flames... a cauldron perhaps. Colours and and composition is excellent... reckon it's at least a top 10 finisher.

Wow... this is unique... in a good way! I absolutely love this image, though I don't understand the title... I haven't let that effect my voting (which I did earlier). Kudos for doing something so different... I was dreading voting on this challenge, and it was images such as this and a handful of other that made it quite enjoyable... this was one of the cherries in the pacman maze that the flowers challenge was. Well done!

This in out-and-out the best image of the challenge IMO. Love everything about it... composition brilliant, sharpness might be a little soft in the centre of the flower... and its very different from all the others in the challenge, which gets major browny points in my book... will probably ribbon, and will not be surprised if it wins a posthumous or something similar too.

I have to say I pick this as being your entry (is that your daughter on the right). I'm surprised that this didn't ribbon. As I mentioned, this was my favourite photo in the challenge...

Unscheduled Surveillance

It's a very interesting shadow cast. The colour and noise fit the surveillance theme setup by the title nicely... would have liked to see more detail, but I imagine that the camera was probably at its limits taking this as is.

This is another flower shot that I perhaps was too quick to judge too harshly during voting... but I've changed... please see my comment on skewsme's verde-go photo.

I perhaps might have liked the DOF to have included the petals... too much of it is too soft for my liking, and the centred composition... meh...

Anyway... rest assured, the next time you submit a flower photo, and I vote on it... I'll be fairer and not discriminate against it b/c of my hatred for flower.
