I like the depth of field choice here. If you get a chance to reshoot, try to get the catch light in both eyes if possible. I realize that here you've got one side dark, which I do like. The background on the right side looks a bit "granulated" but I like the reddish color. Nice expression on the dog! You may also want to try taking a few at dog's eye level (if you can keep the dog's nose away from the lens). Nice work!
