Golden Sunsetby MelicityComment: Good colors, simple and fairly effective composition. Bit of the jaggies on the pole (?) holding the lamp. |

Plus A Smidgen of Steelby HornOUBetComment: Hard to tell if the buildings are glass, but I'll assume they have windows, and the reflections give the water a sort of glass-type impression; not an overly strong tie to the challenge, but it's there. Nicely framed with the vegetation. |

Balls of glass.by LitlaComment: I think I see you! Colors and light are pretty good; good composition - I like the seam at the background at a slant rather than straight across. Focus seems a bit soft. |

Edison's Ideaby JSAYBComment: Pretty good exposure to get the inside filaments of the light bulb. The picture seems to have an overall almost horizontal grain to it of sorts, and since the light is centered, the bulb needs to be - it's a bit more to the right than the left so it looks a wee bit lopsided. |

Firewaterby PhilComment: Simple, clean, effective hyper-processed image - took a good composition and a good exposure to pull this off. |

Relaxing in the mistby timfythetooComment: Now this is sweet! I love the colors. Nice of your zoo to provide a background that lets the tiger take center stage. Nice focus. Kitty looks so relaxed you could almost walk up and pet him. Though I would not suggest that... |

Sixty one secondsby timfythetooComment: Trading Post comment
I've not yet even had the chance to look through the entries for this challenge - I'm surprised, though, that this is below a 6. It looks almost "Rikki'd" by the way. The blue is awesome, particularly the water - very rich. I recognize your boat over there on the right. The only minor distraction for me is the building (?) in front of your boat - the greenish color sort of stands out. I do, however, realize there isn't anything you can do about that in basic. As for balance, I'd maybe pull the horizon just a wee bit lower... Nope. Just tried it and I like it better your way. |

This did pretty well for a flower shot! :-) Love the crisp focus on the foreground flower and nice choice of subject as that's a particularly lovely bloom. The bee is a welcome addition as it adds interest but you should have convinced him to fly into the picture rather than out of it - doesn't he understand the rules of composition? Well lit, good color, and nice bokeh to boot. |

Great flower shot! A challenge too early... :-) Works for this one, too, though with such a tight crop, the bokeh doesn't emphasize the flower as much as it could if the crop were a bit wider. That said, this is an excellent shot - the color is very rich and warm without being overly bright or oversaturated; the focus is excellent; and I like the composition. It's not quite the rule of thirds, but for me, the bud on the right of the bloom balances it nicely. |
