Oh my! This is priceless. I really like this, both because the cat is gorgeous, and because I just like the picture. I like the giant shadow cat on the wall, the purple couch, the line of the wall. And especially the expression on her face. Really quite an enjoyable picture!

Another GREAT shot. I love their expressions - you've captured the zeal and enthusiasm and carefree spirit if young boys just perfectly. It all works here - the composition, the post processing, the colors. It's simply magical!

I like the angle and the composition within the frame of this shot. And what a sweet, sweet dog! Love the eyes. I like how you've added "blue" to the Blue Heeler, too. There's a touch of blue on his nose!

You have a winter room? Near the potty? Do I really want to know? I gave you a 6 - I liked the lighting. Better shot that mine, that's for sure. And mine was all your fault, you know...

Know any songs after the 80s? :-)

Greetings from the Critique Club

First, congratulations on a great score and great placement for your first challenge entry! As for meeting the challenge, you definitely nailed it! I think nearly everyone can relate to the action your image depicts, and I'm quite glad to hear that your hubby survived without requiring first aid!

This image scored very well, despite as many have pointed out the lack of crisp, clear focus. Composition is strong, with the knife forming a nice angle to both the hand and the pepper, and good placement of the subjects in the frame.

The color is excellent, in both the red and the green of the pepper and the flesh tones in the hand. The background has a bit of a yellow cast to it - if you use Photoshop (and it helps if you ask for critiques to post your editing steps in the comments), try doing a simple "Autolevels" - it really brightens up the background without altering the colors. Also, since I'm not sure of your processing, a little sharpening will help a bit with the soft focus.

Congrats on a great score, and keep shooting!

Greetings from the Critique Club

First, this was a hard challenge, in my opinion. I do like the idea - without reading the title but knowing the challenge, I'd have said that the "stupid" part might be paying $48 for whatever it was. But with the title, and your explanation, AND being a fellow female, I do get it. Unfortunately, it might not be so clear to the other half of the population (the male half), and they don't get to read the comments until the challenge is over.

As for the picture itself, you achieved excellent clarity on the tag itself, and I like the use of B&W - it's effective here. Good use of natural light as well. The finger on the left of the photo and the thumb look a bit out of place, though. Perhaps having a bit more of the hand in the shot, or less shallow depth of field to keep the finger and thumb a bit more in focus might alleviate the "out of placeness".

By the way, the close up of the shoe you entered in "Superstitions" is very well done - but I see that a lot of people "didn't get it" during the challenge. You will find that the better your shots "meet the challenge" the better they'll score. You have a very interesting perspective on things - keep shooting!

Greetings from the Critique Club

First off, I LOVE reading your description! Isn't amazing the things we do to get pictures sometimes. I will go look at the setup in your portfolio in a bit.

I thought this was a very good shot when I voted during the challenge - it wasn't a static, head-on shot, which to me indicates a good imagination - you gave it some thought and effort and to me, it paid off. I really like the color and lines created by the intersections of the mirrors. The slightly different angles give each reflection a slightly different look, which creates interest and keeps the viewer engaged.

The lighting is good - I like that there's no significant glare in the lens face. Focus is pretty good, particularly for a reflection. The word "Nikon" could be just a tad sharper but again, since it's a reflection, that's hard to do.

A well done shot, and a great interpretation of the challenge.

Wow - great shot! Love it when you get the condensation coming off the plane. Air shows are indeed fun, aren't they? Was it in Santa Maria or at Vandenberg?
