The lighting seems just a bit harsh/bright but not by much. It looks as though it's from a single direction - lighting from two sources might add a bit of depth. Nice variety of color!

The first one I get to vote on and it's a very nice one indeed. Love the toning you chose and the light works very nicely for this.

The motion makes for a very vibrant, alive portrait - I think it works well for this - and it's the slight catchlights in the eyes that seal the deal.

Beautiful colors! And how nice that he's color coordinated with the sky behind and the branches. Great capture!

I love the bit of history shared here! Nice way of framing and presenting the shot, too.

It may be a little bright, but I think I kinda like it that way. If you want to make it a little darker (and stop me if you already know this!) make a duplicate layer, then change the blending mode to multiply (if you're using Photoshop CS2). If you aren't using CS2, you can try using Levels to darken it a bit, but you might lose detial in the darker parts of the elk. Nice place you live!

You get great contrast and depth. I'm terribly envious. (And very much enjoying following along with your "where you live" stuff.)
