Northern Cardinalby timfythetooComment: Absolutely outstanding. One of the better jobs of controlling BG while still providing context that I've seen on a DPC bird shot. |

Ducks in the Mistsby NikonJebComment: This is hysterical! I'd have called it "Sentinel in the Mist", myself :-) After all, that's obviously a duck. It's too bad (IMO at least, maybe this is what you intended) that the foreground duck isn't sharp and the house a little blurred. Still, fine shot! |

Solitude's Dawnby DrAchooComment: This is exceptionally nice. I wish the horizon were leveled, and that there was a little more sky and a little less foreground, perhaps a slightly lower POV. My eye really wants to see the completion of that truncated cloudform center left. |

The Old Sea Dogby faeryComment: This one is almost spectacular. It's certainly very good, and one of my higher scores given, but I have a sense of so much more potential in the image as well. For one thing, the overall color cast is a sort of a dingy yellow-green, and that isn't too pleasing to me. Then, the hot spot in the center of the dock is just too aggressive, it's keeping my eyes from the sea lion. Finally, the top is just kind of bleeding off weakly; I'd love to see some gradient up there. I have a suspicion this would make a spectacular B/W too.
I don't mean to sound negative; for me to comment at this length means I really, really like the capture. And of course these are just my opinions, for whatever they are worth. Nice job! |

Flamingoby rkligmanComment: I'd love to see this processed so we can separate the missing part of the bill from the BG ever so slightly. Otherwise superior, not your normal flamingo experience. |

Full Houseby SJCarterComment: The tone mapping on this is not working well, creating unnatural BG dullness and flatness and pronounced haloing of the birds. The shot is otherwise quite endearing. |

MAJESTIC by AlexSaberiComment: The tone mapping, if that's what you used, is leaving artificial looking areas around the horns. The end result is almost like looking at a Diorama of an elk in a natural history museum. At the same time it's a really striking image. But it's hard to be sure if that's a live or a dead animal, the tonal balance is so unnatural. I'm assuming it's live because the fur doesn't look groomed. I wish I didn't have this ambivalence about the unnatural evenness of BG and subject. I wish the BG were a stop brighter than it is. Sigh. Good luck! |
