RR Xingby JuliBocComment: This was one of my higher scores int he challenge actually. I think it's a fine image. I'm not surprised it finished low, because it's not really addressing the "perspective" issue in a way people can comprehend. They will see the receding diagonal of the train as the "perspective" part, and that's not what the picture is about. But very nice PP work and an "arresting" image (pun intended). |

When Buildings Lean and Bears Cryby jaysonmcComment: I love this one for the title (how could I not?) but as an image it doesn't engage me at all. Since this is advanced editing, some shadow/highlight work or tone mapping could have accomplished wonders in bringing up the fence to the prominence it deserves. As it is submitted, the bear is not carrying the metaphorical weight he ought to be. I also think it's cropped just too danged tight on the right, really squeezing that figure into oblivion. |

Timeby raishComment: I think this is basically lovely, but there are some things about it that keep it from rising to the top aesthetic plateau. In no particular order, they are:
1. The awkward crop of the leftmost trunk where it goes in and out of the frame.
2. The unfortunate prominence of the lamp post.
3. The way the people are all clumped in the mid-distance. If the nearest figure were 20 feet closer to us it would work better for me.
4. The chromatic fringing on the branches. I'm not sure why you didn't just desat this and get rid of that.
Still and all, a very evocative image. |

Green shot!by Ecce_SignumComment: This is really nice. I'd like it better if the ball were not teed up in the rough, which is not a legal golf shot, but... |

Flockby MelethiaComment: The spelling is "cormorant" and they definitely are NOT cormorants. Their head shape places them more in the duck-or-goose category. Cormorants have longer, hooked-at-the-end beaks, for grabbing fish with. Nice shot though. Message edited by author 2008-01-03 13:04:32. |

It should be here somewhereby CamabsComment: Sheesh, I'm embarrassed; count me as one of those who utterly missed the "city" part of this one :-( We ought to petition SC for a retroactive voting adjustment on this shot LOL. |
