Speechlessby messerschmittComment: Oh, NICE one Wil! Didn't get anything like the score it deserves, given the challenge topic... |

The Rhythm of the Ocean by GIS_boyComment: "Additionally, the lens dust is somewhat of an issue." — Basic editing has allowed cloning of dust spots for over a year now.
Nice image! Congrats on ribbon! |

day 5. feb 08 overlays. flightby rozComment: "the sequence is in the order it was taken, but looking at it now in dpc i'm seeing that he's lower to the water in the second shot .. he must'v dropped down a bit after take-off .. he was very plump .. !! "
Actually all Pelicans do that, most birds do even; the rise on the downstroke of the wings, and sink on the upstroke. They just rise more than they sink, and end up airborne :-)
Cool composite. |

Expose to the Rightby hahn23Comment: Nice finish, Dick Richard! I love the title, and I like the way you've chosen to render the scene. I'm curious to see you're calling this a Ponderosa. I don't doubt that you're right (you live there after all, you *should* know, and I'm sure you do) but every Ponderosa *I've* ever seen, or heard of, is very tall and very straight of trunk... Is this a different variety of the family, or have I just been blinded by stereotype?
Regardless, congrats on your top 10! Message edited by author 2017-08-31 23:18:29. |

Stuckby jaysonmcComment: Another of my 8's — I gave 8's to both this one and the Brown Ribbon :-) I'm intrigued that Ubique and I both have exactly the same reaction to your image. It's a pity so few are willing to absorb this sort of image and let it speak to them from the photographer's heart. Wonderful shot, well done! |

Through the mistby BeetleComment: Really nicely seen and rendered, Beetle. One of my 8's. I particularly applaud your willingess to let the bright part of the sky blow out; it seems very real to me. |

Bypassedby glad2badadComment: This is the highest finisher of the 8's I awarded. I like the almost-ethereal quality of "soft sharpness" you've captured here. The only nit I have with the image, what kept it from a 9 in my book, is the vague, diffuse haloing around the tree. Congrats on a very fine image. |
