Descentby Yo_SpiffComment: This is beautiful. I nearly gave it a Bronze Paw, but you were just edged out by some seagulls :-) Congrats on top-10. |

Fishermanby MelethiaComment: "If you want to be happy forever," the gull said to me, "learn to fish." A fisherman by inclination if not by trade, I find myself agreeing with the gull, but the gull is not a man, for all that she's a fishing gull.
She deserves a Bronze Paw.

Orange Crushby KelliComment: This is mysterious, and i don't like it very much, except for some reason I like it a lot. Don't ask me why. In fact, it's not important why. Heck, if I knew why then it probably wouldn't work, right? For me, anyway. Whatever.
I like that I don't like it and keep coming back to it because I can't let it go. Life can be like that. I give you the Bronze Paw :-)

Traffic Controlby phooztComment: The title on this is worth its weight in eiderdown :-) It's sort of a pity that orange-footed, almost-still duck is there, center left on the rocks, but it's not a big deal. Clearly, the lower-right duck is the traffic controller on duty :-) I just noticed the swan in this review, BTW; if I chose to I could see him as emblematic of the late, lamented Concorde... That's just silly, I know, but this silly picture pleases me no end.
Coming back for a final, smooth landing, I award you the Bronze Paw :-)

Staurophobiaby pointandshootComment: Coming back to comment. This is quite bizarre on several levels. Staurophobia is the fear of crosses, or a crucifix. There being no crucifix in the image, one focuses on the nail. Nails, of course, or more properly "spikes", are an integral part of the crucifixion. So that is the connection, but tracing it through the entirely UN-crucified pose, and the stone blocks (is this related to His tomb?) is an awkward intellectual journey.
All in all, a strange and evocative image, one of my high-scorers of the challenge.
Coming back to this, I give you the Silver Paw :-)

dawnby yankoComment: This is what happens when geese evolve, "2010 — A Strange Odyssey", the truncated monolith, something rotating out of sight up there, the lonely duck in perfect, splendid isolation. For some reason, I am moved. I give you the Golden Paw :-)

the Confiteorby ubiqueComment: Contrition. Confession. But a trace of victimhood here as well. Why is the torch not lit? And of course, why is there a hook? One wishes to explore the imagined abbatoir.. |
