wiltedby shutterflyComment: This is totally a personal preference here. I think I'd really like this better without the water drops. To me, when the water drops are on a rose, it reminds me that the rose is fresh, and new and full of life. The water makes it seem even more alive. This shot, suposed to represent despair, I think should have no water drops. I realize that water drops are added to make something interesting, so it isn't JUST a rose, but there is no reason for this rose to have water. it's dead, and sad. otherwise, the focus and clarity are great. angle and framing/cropping are excelent and the background is also good. I like how it fades color. Great shot. good luck in the challenge. |

At Wit's Endby AnachroniteComment: Excellent use of dramatic lighting. Perfectly executed here. The message is clear and obvious. Focus and clarity are great. Angle and framing/cropping are also great. The tight crop enhances the effect and really accents the "despair" aspect. Great job. Good luck in the challenge. |

She Won't Be Backby 'PongComment: despair? yup. looks pretty sad to me. The reflection of the shades in the vase is great. I like how it brings the background into the main subject. makes it all fit together without looking cluttered at all. the color and lighting is great. focus and clarity are also good. The angle and framing/cropping are good as well. overall a really nicely done shot. congrats and good luck in the challenge. |

Moment of Weaknessby Clou9Comment: I'm assuming that the badly out of focus shot was on purpose, however, it doesn't appeal to me that way. definately fits the challenge, drugs and alcohol in a rough time. The area of white in the metal tin is quite bright compared to the rest of the shot and draws the attention there, and holds it. can't tell if the red liquid to the right is suposed to be alcohol, or blood. guess it's imagination time. :) good luck in the challenge. |

Help Us, Lordby rmockmtComment: I think I would like to have seen a bit more room to the left here. You chopped off her fingers. I'm not a religious person, but when people see this statue, doesn't is represent hope rather than despair? Like I said, I'm not religious, so I wont claim to understand the meaning. I'll take your word for it. The lighting seems alright for the most part, but I'm not sure I like the light glare in the bottom right. Otherwise, a nice shot. Good use of the blank background, and black and white is a good choice also. Good luck in the challenge. |

The Wallby miphotosComment: it's interesting how the wall kind of seems like it dissapears into the distance. The angle and framing/cropping is great. I like the perspective very much. Having the monument at the end is also a great touch. The wall its self seems a bit busy with all the reflection, but no way to really avoid that. Definately fits the challenge. Good luck in the challenge. |

His Despair Our Gainby VisionComment: I think i'd like to see the end of the nail to the left. Otherwise, I like the cropping/framing/ the negative space to the right is good, and I like the closeness of the vertical crop. the focus and clarity are good. color and lighting appear to be ok as well. i guess my only minor complaint is the crop to the left. overall a nice shot. good luck in the challenge. |

Please Help Me!by STEINRComment: this definately has a despair feel to it. The stairs make it look like the person is in a not so glamourous place, and the pose and look are sad and desperate. The angle and framing/cropping are good. I wonder how this would look also if you could have captured the persons feet wearing some old worn shoes or something. might have had some heightened effect for the challenge. overall a really nice shot. great focus and clarity and the use of black and white is good here. good luck in the challenge. |

Tanglement of Greenby bobgaitherComment: This is an amazing find. I really love the color and the different greens in the shot. there are a few slightly different greens. not a major different shade, but enough to make it varient. The angle and framing/cropping is excelent. Looks despair-ish to me. Kind of peaceful also. Focus and clarity are wonderful. This is an excelent shot! I really like it. Something I could hand on the wall. Congrats and good luck in the challenge. |

Abstract Screwdriver Handlesby jodiecostonComment: definatly abstract. definately screwdriver handles. focus and clarity are really good. I think the angle and framing/cropping is great as well. the way you didn't line the up with each other, kind of tapered them, is a great advantage to the photo. i think that was a great choice. not something i would hang in my livingroom, but still very nicely done. good luck in the challenge. |
