Preludeby sherComment: I guess it is your intimate style, the excellent lighting and interesting toning that makes me keep recognizing your photos. Especially the style. I hit the voting button for the previous photo, this one loads and BANG!: This can only be from Sher. :)
Shall I comment on it or not? By now it must look like I'm stalking you at dpc. :)
I did check at pbase this time to see if I was right, would be silly to say the above to a stranger. I have the same thing with Kiwiness when he enters. It's not that hard to pick out his work.
This photo: Simple, it's excellent. Particularly like the way the dark vs light works. The plant family is also very very old, good chance that it was around in the beginning. :)
I also love the way you tone your photos and handle the contrast.
See ya.

In the begining of the Egyptian historyby hossamComment: To my knowledge Pyramid building is not something that was done in the beginning of the Egyptian history, but I would say it is the first skyscraper. :)
The photo is a bit bright and lacks contrast (apart from the car). Some contrast tweaking or preferably shooting it earlier or later in the day (longer shadows, more diffuse soft warm light, darker sky) might help with that. Now it is the car that creates the contrast and if you are talking about this pyramid's history the car is totally out of place.
The pyramid of Djoser or Snefru would be good subjects as well, those two "failures" are the beginning of pyramid design. Most interesting stuff.
Good luck. |

Robert Smithby giegaComment: I already thought the lead singer of The Cure was a bit strange, but if this is his home.... :) |

Pax Vobiscumby jmsetzlerComment: The way the light and shadows fall on this statue keep amazing me. The carving looks so simple yet so lifelike, the most difficult to achieve. Well captured. |

A Wind Blown Dawn At The Death Valley Sand Dunesby fulgentComment: Interesting how the purpleblue vs gold contrast can be found between the sky and the sand, but returns with the foreground object and the sand. Interesting how the light falls on that foreground subject, bit unexpected. Good. |

Aurora Borealisby andriComment: It is like the earth has become one huge blast furnace, you know, with the hot gasses blowing from the chimney, still red hot.
Wonderful capture. |

My hands are tiedby MontereykiddoComment: Color vs grey works very good with this subject.
I like the photo but I think that stretched fingers, in a frustrated kind of way because the hands are tied, could add a lot more emotion to the photo. Now it is more like 'tied and indifferent about it'.
Depends on what the photo will be used for if it matters of course. |

Valley Blueby wilksComment: We should do a "profile" challenge here at dpc. The color of your ribbon might be the same as the sky. :)
What I also like here is the subtle gradations of blue on the hills in the background. |

The Cyclistby e301Comment: Near perfect. What I like about photographs like this is that no element in the scene will show you in what year it was shot. Sure there will be some miniscule hints, but for all I know it could have been taken in the 1960's instead of 2005.
The shadow exposure on the person contrast wonderfully vs the brighter surroundings, the fence is a strong line. |

Sought Seclusionby CutterComment: The wooden construction creates a lot of depth, the green stuff at the left fills up the space there and the contrast of the sky vs the water is great. I like it a lot. |
