Her face is certainly framed, which is cool, although I'm not sure that the framing is really a background or foreground element. Just an observation. :)

My first impression is that the scarf is very well focused and sharp, especially on the flat plane. Because of that it makes her face seem soft, almost too soft. Her left eye (our right as a viewer) is sharp, as is her mouth. Looks like the shallow DOF made her nose and the leading scarf edge fall out of the focal plane. I guess what I'm trying to say is the scarf is more dazzling and sharp than the intended subject and is stealing the show a little.

All JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge.

This is kind of fun. I like the use of B&W and you've covered the tonal range quite well. Not sure that the "Framing" part of the challenge is covered as intended (foreground or background elements)...just an observation. Good luck in the challenge.

Uh-oh. I didn't even see the saxophone until the title hit me. The first thing I noticed was the person in the background, framed by the tunnel. Personally, I think this may hurt your score some because it seems then that your subject (saxophone player) really isn't framed per se. It's an interesting study as far as a photograph goes with the dual subjects, one automatically drawing attention (distant person), the other lurking in the shadows. JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge.

Good thing you used a needle with that big ball tip! :-) This is a fun, clever idea, and well executed. Can't really see any major faults. You might be getting a hit or two on the upper-right corner, but it's not a major distraction. All JMO of course. :) Good luck in the challenge.

This building certainly has some stories to tell it looks like. I like how the sign has old lettering underneath. It had to have been challenging to determine where to cut off the composition/framing on this. Hard to get the entire sign in most likely, yet chopping it off feels awkward. Hmmm... I don't have too solid a platform to critique this considering I didn't end up much farther up in the results than yours. :-)

I was surprised to see this in your profile instead of the old VA Power Plant. Didn't get anything you liked?

A little over the top on lighting and it's washing out your subjects. Everything's in focus, which is cool. Good luck!

Ah, yes...refractions. :-) You did a nice job of getting a clear shot of them. Might have more impact if the drops were just a little closer and lose some of the excess background. Just an observation. Good luck.

Nice job exposing this and controlling the light. I like the reflections. You're losing some impact with the smaller size (you have 640 to use on the long side...you used 540).

Nice use of lighting and good positioning of the subject material. The forefront item appears to be orange? Why not have yellow there? Just an observation. Good luck in the challenge.
