Drawn Downby Q_ManComment: This has great lines, lighting, patterns, etc...fun to look at. I like how the shadow diagonal at the entrance matches the overhead diagonal line. Only weak spot for me is the subject...there's wonderful framing, but of what? The stairs as I understand it from your title. This would be thru the roof if you had a person in the alley, maybe sitting down just before the stairs. Just a thought and all JMO of course. :-) Good luck in the challenge. |

Framed By Natureby arpitmittalComment: Dang, I hate being a nitpicker, but where's the framing? Not the pine branches on the left, is it? It's a lovely vista and probably a great location for sunrise or sunset. |

Trees of Snowfallby jaysonmcComment: The title on this one helps as I didn't see the snow at first glance. The side uprights grabbed my attention first. Technically, this meets the challenge with the foreground framing just fine. I think what may hold it back on scoring is subject matter; it's kind of dark and gloomy. Nothing personal, just making an observation. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

De-icingby kgerendaComment: Well there's a clever way to take advantage of travel. :-) Nice framing job and an interesting subject to take in. The use of B&W does a good job of eliminating distracting colors. Good luck in the challenge. |

Looking through the stair railsby Dave GordonComment: Framing is "ok". Might have been stronger if you could have moved in closer (or zoomed) and filled more of the composition with cat and side "frames". I have two cats and know how challenging it can be to catch a pose with them at times. :-) On the technical side a healthy dose of contrast boost and some light sharpening would really help this pop a little. |

Winding Staircaseby alohacarrotComment: I like the POV on this. Bit of a brain teaser at first glance. :) One thing about this photo that feels awkward is the lighting. It doesn't seem balanced enough...fill flash bounced off the ceiling or sidewalls available? That might have gave this another dimension. Just a thought. Anyway, good luck in the challenge. |

*Turning Torso*by birkinComment: It looks like the branches are trying to reach out and touch the building. That's kinda cool. :) You made a good choice on aperture selection to get everything in focus. Good luck in the challenge. |

Jailedby MelethiaComment: Not sure if you made the right choice in bringing the nose in sharp instead of the eyes...??? Can't tell without seeing the difference. The detail is certainly there in your selected subject. I do like the light feel of this photo with the abundance of white. The framing works well also. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

untitleby guitarmaniacComment: Couldn't think of anything for a title? :-/ I like the photo overall. You picked a nice framing element for this challenge entry. I did notice, when scrolling down to comment, that the image takes on a different feel when the top is cropped off (losing the top brick part). Not sure if it's "better" or not that way, just an observation. Good luck in the challenge. |

High Enough for Ships to Passby HeiSchComment: Pretty image. May be just a little oversharpened, but pleasing to look at nonetheless. :-) I get what it is that is your "frame", but there's nothing in it. ??? |
