Young minds learn quickly..by NowaytotellComment: I understand your wanting to use a plain background, that's a good choice, however, the subject is too close to the wall and the light is casting some harsh shadows. Just a thought. Good luck. BTW - You're right about the young minds learning quickly! :D |

A MIx of Studiesby russiansergeeComment: I get the idea, but it feels like you went a bit overboard with the "MIx" - it's coming across as cluttered IMO. Some bounced fill light would help reduce the shadows some, and just a bit more contrast might help as well. All JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

Hey Mr. D.Jby UbersteinyComment: I'm sorry, but what connection does this have with 'School Days'? I like the silhouette approach and the use of backlighting to highlight the bg is good, although if she were a little farther in front you'd have less light spillover on her shoulders, fingers, and cheek. An ironed background would help keep the viewer from being distracted. All JMO of course. :D Good luck in the challenge. |

Much practice makes messy musicby irish_princess87Comment: I like your approach to this overall. Couple of items that could use attention IMO are 1) the positioning of the flute is too close to a straight diagonal across the image, 2) the photo seems a little underexposed (the paper should be closer to white and brighter), and 3) the dark corner in the upper left is distracting.
All JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

Sax Lineby HeiSchComment: This tells a story AND shows an angle with School in it. Hooray! Not many that have a School theme in this challenge. :( Nice job of handling the exposure with the extreme lighting conditions. Overall, well done. Good luck in the challenge. |

PracticePracticePracticeby mpetersComment: The concept is cool, albeit a bit contrived. I like your positioning of the "student" and the instrument. Nice angle on the lighting as well to add some drama/interest. Good luck in the challenge. |

Key Notes by susanhComment: Love the reflections. This composition may have been a little stronger with the top cropped (or composed differently) to not show the black area above the instrument. Just a thought. Good luck. |

Old Schoolby BlackboxComment: This would have a better connection to the challenge if the books on the shelves were music related. Other than that I like the composition and the B/W conversion. Good luck in the challenge. |

From music, lifeby higgledyComment: Great idea, now if you could have gotten the background to be a true white and controlled the color temp (white balance) better, this would have some potential. JMO of course. The subject is well focused. Good luck in the challenge. |
