Refugeby quiet_observationComment: That (fence?) is interesting. The B/W tone works ok if your sky was too bland I suppose. Did you consider doing this in a portrait mode, using the left side of the image? Just a thought. The photo seems tilted to the right by a couple of degrees. |

Time and tide...by inshaalaComment: Very cool location. Nice job with the composition - horizon on the top third line, foreground includes the complete reflection, and the boulders/poles angle in nicely from the right. Other technicals (exposure, DOF, sharpness/focus) are right on the money as well. Well done overall. Good luck in the challenge. |

Morningby greslizzzComment: Looks cold (bluish cast). I'm not trying to be disrespectful here, but with a lake of that size couldn't you have found a location to shoot that didn't have intruding bare branches on the borders of your image? I do like the way the pine tree is isolated against the blue tones of the water. Good luck in the challenge. |

White Horsesby bbrightComment: Beautiful place. You've composed this quite well. For some reason the entire photo looks flat, like it needs some contrast - seems hazy. Then I look at the rocks on shore and there is plenty of contrast there. Maybe it's just the lighting from shooting at midday? Hmmm. Oh well...good luck in the challenge. |

Man vs. Natureby rjlacsonComment: I need sunglasses just to look at this! :) Wow, that's some vivid color! The tiered land angling toward the house adds a nice dynamic to this. A little HDR on this perhaps? Good luck in the challenge. |

Distant Snowby PoobaComment: Looking at the shadows, it appears that this was taken at nearly high noon. The foreground dead tree is very interesting. With some unique (late/early day) lighting that tree (and this scene overall) would be really cool. Good luck in the challenge. |

Snowscapeby acoppolaComment: Catching the falling snow is cool, other than that this photo doesn't do much for me (it's a bit bland). JMO of course. :) Good luck in the challenge. |

Needles & Haystackby charliebakerComment: The processing has given this a painterly feel. Based on the loss of detail in the clouds I suspect some NI? The bird in the upper-left keeps pulling my eye over that way. Could be good, or not...I find it a little distracting personally. The reflections in the water help offset the centered horizon. What are the small black dots just over the horizon on the right? Extremely distant birds, or sensor dust spots? I'd have cloned those out. Overall, it's a nice image. Good luck in the challenge. |
