Maned Wolfby scalvertComment: Very nice detail in this photo - no surprise there. :-)
I thought this was a fox?
As for this image as an entry, vs the otter, the otter was a better choice IMO. The thing holding it back some for me is the ears. The animal seems to be watching one thing and listening to another. If the ears were forward at attention this photo would take on a different feel.
Just some observations. :-) |

Finaleby patio127Comment: Wooah! Dang! SWEET!!! I love this shot. The power of an isolated subject at work here, and it helps that the subject is strong, interesting, well composed, and captured in detail.
Very nice work! |

beepbeepby StarbananaComment: This would make a great "what is it?" macro shot. Funny thing is the car...that really throws you off at first glance. Actually at second and third glance too. I'd NEVER have figured out what this is. :-) I really like the comp and POV on this. |

macro-8.jpgby incubusComment: Cool details in the paper and textures. I like how you've included a little triangle of tabletop in the upper left. Adds context. |

macro7.jpgby incubusComment: The processing on this is unique. Nothing really seems sharp, yet everything pops out at the viewer. The focal plane appears to cover the 'H' and 'I'. I love what the DOF has done to the top couple of rows; pushing them OOF. Nice shot, and interesting subject. |

Jacaranda Lichenby GregoryBComment: Now this subject has multiple possibilities!!! Outstanding texture and colors available. While I know that macro shots are generally going to be quite shallow in DOF, this subject begs to show more in detail. Don't get me wrong - I like it overall. I almost feel like this could be cropped in some and more concentration put on a specific area.
Way cool subject! :-) |

Begonia Flowerby GregoryBComment: Very nice detail and an interesting perspective of this flowering plant. The detail on the back petal is strong...I kind of wish all of the yellow was in focus (focal point started there and went back - need to go deeper, maybe f11 to do that). Just an observation. Overall I like this shot and have enjoyed it (gave me an idea too!). :-) |

gull at sunsetby Bear_MusicComment: This is a nice shot. Very colorful...and therein is a minor problem IMO. The bird gets lost a little in all of that sparkle. Of the two, I prefer your entry substantially more. Also, this photo is more static than the other. I like the sense of movement and diagonals in the one you submitted. |
