I enjoyed this and it was at the top of my picks for this challenge. The subject is fun, and I like that it's a naturally found subject. Great idea with the "hair" of the plant really making the backlighting pop. I get a minor feeling that there was some processing done to gain clarity & sharpness (the plant part just seems off a tad on detail).

Anyway...just wanted to come back and comment. See you in the next challenge. :-)

Hmmmph. This was one of my top scoring picks. I like that you found something natural to shoot that has some interest. The placement of the main subject in the comp works well and I like the bg bokeh also. A little bit noisy in the bg, but not overly distracting.

I was one of the 57 4's you rec'd.

I'm not probably one to critique this that much as my take on 'Backlighting' wasn't very strong either...however, when I was voting I took this description of backlighting to heart:

(from the challenge description) "Backlighting is the idea of shining light at an object from behind, or lighting areas behind the object you want to highlight. You can photograph anything you want, but the use of backlighting to enhance the photo is key."

Keywords of the description being highlight and enhance.

When this image first loaded I enjoyed the sense of fun and happiness about it. As far as backlighting is concerned I really don't see how this image is enhanced by backlighting at all. The subject is the person, and for all purposes seems to be a normal portrait type shot with a blown-out background. Obviously, JMO.

Pascal? Hmmm...can't be him - no ribbons. Sanjuro?

Dang! Not him either, only 1 ribbon.

No offense to whomever's this is...the style of this photo just reminded me of the above 2 photographers (location, subject, processing style, etc...).

It's a lovely image. Good luck in the challenge. :-)

This was one of my favorite shots for this challenge. You did a nice job of isolating the subject and the color tone you selected works well. I can look at this photo and wonder; where are they going, is the child always sucking her thumb or she scared out on the street?

p.s. - You should edit your comments and just hit submit changes, whether you change anything or not. For some reason forum code doesn't work until after the challenge is over. The user link to Pawdrix isn't displaying as a link.

I know it'a a cliche about the eyes being the window to the soul...but WOW! You've captured a very emotive image here. Nice.

Hey, that's pretty good to sneak up on one of these to capture a photo. Very nice control of focus to get such clairty and detail around the head and eye area. Right on the mark!

This is a fun shot. I like the worn/dirty/used feel of it...makes it feel tangible rather than a static product type shot.
