Rural Expanseby skewsmeComment: My guess is the blown out highlights being mentioned are actually vibrant yellow trees in fall color. |

Transitionby glad2badadComment: Originally posted by GolferDDS: I am interested in your technique. Thanks for the comment / question. It's a bit of experimentation to find the right ISO and shutter speed. Started with the 400 rule (400 divided by focal length … 400/24 = 16 seconds rounded down). Take a few exposures to dial in the settings. Hardest part is getting focus. The lens I used, like many, doesn't quite sit right at the infinity mark. Just a slight movement in focus (like 1/32") made a big difference. In retrospect I think I sharpened this a bit too much in post (I should edit on my PC and good monitor instead of being lazy and doing it on a laptop in front of the TV - LOL). |

Seasideby Dr.ConfuserComment: Originally posted by Dr.Confuser: Originally posted by glad2badad: Nice, but it's all in the crop. |
How interesting. I saw a wide beach, both from side to side and in the depth of the beach. I saw a wide sky. Wide reflections. And I guess I was blinded by that. You saw a wide crop, and were maybe blinded by that. I was focused on wide content. You seemed to focus on wide form. At least from my perspective, it was not “all in the crop.” |
Guess I didn't expect this challenge to be a 'Panoramic' challenge (we have those too once in a while). |
