This was a tough choice on where to go with DOF. If you had attempted to go all in and get everything in focus it would have been a challenge (maybe back up, crank the aperture down a bit, then crop?). However, then your backdrop and area that the apples are sitting on would have been distracting (looks wet and maybe a bit dirty). I think the shallow DOF works fine and perhaps if the front stem had been the key focal plane it would have helped the overall presentation?

Just thinking out loud ...

Looks like you just stumbled a smidge on your way in the door. :-D This, as a background, could probably be the base for some very interesting blurry images. Some of my favorite (back in the day) toys in there. Played percussion, keyboards, and guitar at one point. Still have some around the house for "someday, when I get the time".

Well you're just full of surprises! :-) I like this one (no offense) much better than the other one. Many things to take in, yet nothing that is overwhelming to steal the show from the other elements. Nice work!
