That's interesting that you see Eastern Bluebirds only in late winter. We have them year-round here. Your area looks to be right on the edge of their breeding range. We have two active nesting pairs in the front yard currently. :-)

As for the scoring on your entry. One thing that stood out to me immediately was that the eye and beak are not sharp. That kills a wildlife image pretty quickly. The composition is a little awkward also with the empty space above the subject. I like how there is a second one in the background nicely OOF.

p.s. - I grew up about 45 minutes west of your location. I always think of home when I see your lighthouse photos. :-D

ETA - link.

Yowser! 61 images to produce this?! That's, um, hmm - not sure whether to say impressive or insane! :-) Congrats on the front page finish.

The question is - does it look like a Brenizer Method image? If yes, then I met the challenge. However, DNMC is not grounds for a DQ regardless. Only if a special rule is tagged onto the challenge would that apply.

Too bad you had to get that one 10! :-) Otherwise you'd have a perfectly symmetrical voting pattern. :-D

Perfect title. :-) It's fun what can be done with mundane material sometimes. Cool!

DOF is a tough one with a macro lens, at least that's what I'm discovering recently. That being said I do like some nice bokeh. :-) Might be a tad shallow, but not much. Like the flowers too. :-)

That's some pretty good detail in there, and I like the patterns. I'm a little surprised at the noise showing up at ISO 50. ??? Was it underexposed and you pulled the shadows up in post?

That setup seems to get some pretty good detail. Too bad you couldn't double that shutter speed to tighten up the motion blur a bit. I do like a little motion in the wings - that's actually an interesting addition.

Hey, you're using the lens that roz mentioned in the thread. :-) My first thought was how smooth and noise-free the image is, then I noted the ISO of 100. Makes sense. Could play with this setup and get some interesting (refractions?), kind of like the '7' that shows in all the reflections.
