| 10/14/2002 01:19:00 AM | The Cure for Seven Deadly Sinsby jdincolspringsComment: You know, taking a photograph of a TV is quite annoying :) even more so is the christian right message. If I block away your title, i would have guess this is more Christian propaganda rather htan related to the deadly sins. Even Jesus has wraith toward God as he was crucified, how can sins be washed away? 2 paganini |
| 10/14/2002 01:04:00 AM | Aftermathby HBunchComment: -10 for the teddy bear! :) just kidding, the teddy bear adds to the image instead of just being cute. Pure sadness on the model, photo is not technically perfect but the feeling is there. Have you tried B&W or Sepia? might be some interesting effect there i think. Captured very well, i can feel her pain (wraith, envy, whatever, doesn't matter). I like if not for the technical resasons (slightly blurred). 9 paganini (that's my first teddy bear 9 by the way, would've work wonders for me as a childhood submission as well) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 10/14/2002 02:19:00 AM | Apple Skinby kosmikkreeperComment: Disturbing, i thought it was tied together as ropes, awesome photo :) Maybe a duotone B&W would be even more effective, but great photo nevertheless 10 paganini |
| 10/21/2002 02:37:00 AM | Father, Why Have You Forsaken Me?by paganiniComment: as far as the "fake blood" comments go: there are very few substances that look like blood other than real blood and i am not about to stake my arm to produce this image ;-) If people wanted realism, try Hollywood and special effects :-) it's meant to be symbolic. If the rules of DPC allowed some spot editing and filtering, this image would'v ebeen created different to project the symbolism and the "memory" image effects. |
| 10/21/2002 02:33:00 AM | Father, Why Have You Forsaken Me?by paganiniComment: I am not sure why everyone think the image is "dark". It is properly exposed because the backgorund is black and the whole thing is intended to project history, and "memory images". I see people liking it and some dont' like it because of the "darkness". It's not meant and never was the intention to be meant to be obvious. The apple symbolizes original sin and Jesus was suppose to die for sins, hence the crucifiction of him and the applpe as the removal of sins. It also shows God's WRAITH to some extent towards man in general. The title came from the Bible when Jesus is about to die he cries out for help and wonders why God has forsaken him and forgotten him, that is clearly a statement of anger/wrath and that's why it's a compliment to the image as titles should be. Maybe the darkness is a monitor issue, it looks fine on my monitor AND the print looks fine, which is what matters. Anyway, i fully expected the low votes but that's OK :-) Thanks for your comments, even the hateful ones :^) |
