You should be very proud. If I ever saw a better bug macro in b/w. This looks great! I especially like the sparkle in it's eye which leads me up the elegantly curved antenna. I bet this in high res would make me drool ;)

Splendid visualization of the concept. The photo is crystal clear. I do like the title you went with more than the alternate one. A tip that may or may not work...try the smudge tool on the edges of the fish's tail, just a bit, maybe it'll help him fit in more with the environment and not look pasted in, not that it screams pasted in, it actually looks good.

So very elegant. Really like the lighting. As a study I like it as is. As for the simplicity it works.

If I was to wonder how to spruce things up, not that it's needed. If two small glasses layed to rest and create a v shape with stems, or something similar, would've added just a bit more to the composition.

Would've predicted this do a lot better in the standings. The symmetry is top notch. The exposure and composition is excellent. Looks like a nice place to visit and that you captured it true to life.

A wonderful capture. Really like the soft lighting coming in from the bottom and the details you capture of the pod tips. It wouldn't have been as magical without the water, what a neat touch :)

The black background doesn't bother me at all. I think it fits this type of image very well. A lake in the background might have distracted the viewer from the main points of the shot. She might be sitting in space, maybe just a few sparkles of light may help fill up the black space if you wanted to do so. Great shot as is :)

Really like the toning her and those flowers are a great touch. What a concept :)
About those floating thingys, I barely saw them when I scrolled down to see the rest of the image ;) So yeah, I'd agree to clone them out if you ever decided on a re-edit.

Breathtaking shot. The contrast works so well with the black background. The shot of the subject is excellent, with the mane and beard ;) in the wind. There's some drool in too hehe. 10!!
